JGLVA2VF I credit Rosemary Sutcliff as one of the premier reasons that I am an avid fan of historical fiction. I was introduced to her when I was about ten or eleven and vividly remember devouring her books. The Chronicles of Robin Hood was originally published in 1950 and considered her debut book. This is a great re-telling of the Robin Hood legend. She melds the legend with actual historical events and dates which makes this story come alive and ring true. All the familiar characters such as Maid Marion, Little John, and Friar Tuck are here and, of course, the great villains Sir Guy of Gisbourne and the Sheriff of Nottingham. This book covers the full life of Robin Hood from the early days of turning outlaw against Prince John and his minions right through to his death. I readily admit that Robin Hood has always been a story that has intrigued me and I have seen many of the movies and television series that have been based on him. Rosemary Sutcliff’s version is both well written and exciting so I fully enjoyed my return to Sherwood Forest and this re-read was a great success. sem críticas | adicionar uma crítica
