The illustrations are fun and the language is easy to read. ( ) This is a a comic book for children. The book introduces information on robots and uses the definition of a robot as a device that senses the environment and is able to react to this information. Using this definition, the author describes many devices that would typically not be considered robots as robots. This book may appeal to children but I am unclear. I was looking for information on futuristic robots and this was not really covered. There is a sales pitch for kids to participate in robot building contests or hobbies. Part of the science comics series, this is a graphic novel about robots and drones. A pigeon guides the reader through the definition of a robot, the history of robots and drones, and shows samples of robots. This pigeon was the very first machine ever build and is called Pouli. It also explains the functionality of a robot and the use of coding. Illustrations are colorful and there is not much text outside of speech bubbles which keeps the information interesting. Explaining certain specs of robots is done by using the same functionality in humans. Humans portrayed are diverse. The book’s last section is the hall of awesome robots with 25 robots you should know and a glossary. There are seven Other subjects in the series. Example of titles are coral reefs, dinosaurs, dogs, and flying machines. The reviewer had a paperback version. The topic and format might be interesting for middle school students too.
