Portraits and interviews with Japanese American veterans who served in the United States military in spite of the unconstitutional internment of nearly 120,000 Japanese Americans during World War II. Although American citizens, Nisei (second generation Japanese Americans) believed they had to prove their loyalty to America to overcome racial prejudice against them and their status as second class citizens. In their own words they describe their experiences as young men and women in a segregated military, and their lives before, during and after WWII.
