* I got this book for review from the publisher*
I thought this was book was a fun and fast pace story, that focused on STEAM characters. And so many differences elements of this world. This story also had so many fun adventure moments but also dealing with harder complications of a our society like climate change. I really loved the main character in this story, and hope in future books we learn more about the other main characters. I really also enjoyed how this book was focused on solving a real problem that exists in our world, such a fun read, it remined me alot of 39 clues series as well!! ( )

Plot Summary: Max is 12 years old and already attending college. She is a serious genius and tries to get Cs in her classes so she can fly under the radar, since she basically hacked her way in. One day, two men in black suits try to get her at her college class. They bring her to a home for girls, where she will wait until they can bring her to their boss. Only that doesn't happen, because Charl and Isabl arrange a meeting with Max, and claim they are adopting her, the paperwork is on the desk, and they're leaving immediately. Max is confused, but Charl and Isabl are kind, so she goes with them. They don't explain much other than they going to get a meal, pick up Max's suitcase full of Albert Einstein paraphernalia, then head to the airport to board a plane to Israel. And they have to move fast because they know the Corp is not far behind them. Once in Israel, Max meets other kids who are all competing to lead the CMI in a movement to save the world. She knows she's not going to win but she doesn't have anywhere else to be, so she stays. The adults seem to have faith in her, even when she chooses to only answer 2 questions on a 40 question test. What will the other kids think of her? Will she finally be able to make friends for the first time? What is this competition all about? Who is this mysterious benefactor?

Setting: Max starts in NYC, travels to Israel then the Democratic Republic of Congo

Recurring Themes: genius, problem solving, social issues, standing up for others, helping others, global community, good vs. evil, bravery, friendship, home, spy, interpersonal skills, child labor, competition, homeless, orphan, leadership

Controversial Issues: none

Personal Thoughts: This was a very quick read. I had to suspend my disbelief a little bit about a few things. it bothered me that they mentioned Keeto's skin color when it wasn't relevant to the story and he was the only one whose skin color was described. But Max is a strong, extremely intelligent leader who cares a lot about others throughout the story.

Genre: adventure

Pacing: quick, despite it being long
Characters: not that well developed because there are so many, but a few select characters have a personality

Max Einstein: The Genius Experiment by James Patterson explores the story of 12-year-old orphan Max Einstein who is recruited by a mysterious organization to solve the world’s toughest problems correlated to science. With this book being a fun read, it actively engages middle grade children’s imaginations as it incorporates as a fun imaginative read. This book additionally, incorporates scientific thinking, inventions, and experiments for problem solving that can be used among science or content areas for improving critical thinking skills. Throughout the book, small science facts are mentioned as well as historical genius figure Albert Einstein. Additionally, this book is a great representation towards young girls as it gives the representation of girls being represented as smart and brave. I would mainly incorporate this book among science and ELAR content areas as it incorporates scientific thinking and uses critical thinking skills that may be needed in ELAR content areas to help improve higher order thinking skills.
