Grade school teacher Carlie McDaniels trades in her frumpiness for the look of an exotic harem girl, at least for one costume party. So long, spinsterhood--and hello tall, dark and handsome Tyler Ramsey.... Even after the best night of their lives, Tyler hasn't guessed the identity of his harem hottie...and Carlie plans on keeping him in the dark. After all, a gorgeous guy like Tyler would never fall for his smart-talking best friend. And Carlie's not sure she wants to know what would happen if he ever unveiled the naked truth!… (mais)

Lori Foster's first book - reissued! I loved it the first time and I loved this time around. The characters are great. A strong conflict with a touching resolution completed the first book of a prolific author who I'm sure has lots more to come for our readers. I'm looking forward.to mixing up the older reissues with the new releases coming out. ( )

This is one of the most enthralling love-stories I've read in a very long time. Complicated past relationships, hang-ups and misunderstandings. And the characters were written in such a way that I feel like a truly know them, and really want them to be happy! Very well written, and so sweet I just might need to read it again. ( )

This is a vintage Harlequin El Cheapo for Kindle that is definitely not the best example of the author’s work.

I actually don’t mind Lori Foster’s writing style. She’s one of those authors whose books are nice, easy reads (I just picked up a cheap Lori Foster ebook bundle to get me through a couple of weekends), but with this earlier effort she stuck pretty close to the How To Write a Category Romance handbook.

We have:
• Heroine lacking in confidence, but who is a sex goddess once she drops the track pants and dons a harem costume for Halloween.

• Sexy and successful hero who all the women want – playboy reputation is in place – but who is really just a sensitive guy with abandonment issues.

• Heroine who had a bad relationship in the past, so now lives in baggy clothes and wears big glasses (those evil glasses – ugly with them, sexpot without. I can’t begin to tell you how much I hate that stereotype!).

• Heroine who keeps her harem girl identity a secret, so that the hero falls in love with her frumpy self instead of her sexy self.

• Big Misunderstanding after Big Misunderstanding.

• Heroine – while romantically involved with hero – calls him and pretends to be another woman, to ‘test’ his feelings for the mysterious harem girl.

• Hero who is shamed by all for getting upset about the duplicity; remember, we always have to sympathise with the woman in these situations, no matter what she does.

• Big, Cheesy, Dramatic Gesture to go with the marriage proposal.

• Heroine promises to dump the glasses – no sexy woman worth her salt can be seen dead in them I suppose.

The book did everything I expected it to and nothing I didn’t. Lori Foster has written better stuff than this, so the only real reason you have to read this one is that you’ll be paying less than a dollar for it. ( )

I forgot how much I like this book! It's about a girl named Carlie who is a very dedicated teacher and who is crushing really hard on her best friend's brother-in-law, Tyler. Tyler is a businessman who is bored to tears with the women he usually dates, he's a player after all and goes for the tall, blond and dumb type. Anyway they both get invited to a Halloween party (Yay, Halloween!) and Carlie's friend dresses her up as a Harem girl. (I should be a Harem girl!) Well, Tyler has never noticed Carlie before because she typically dresses in huge clothes that make her look fat and hide her shape, but when she steps out in a mask dressed as a Harem girl, he takes notice. Anyway they wind up having a little...tryst? in the pool house but he has no clue it's Carlie as she wouldn't remove her mask (Honestly does that really work?!) Anyway, by devious design her friend gets them locked into an agreement to teach a childrens basketball team together (it's a charity thing) and they wind of course falling in love (duh, I read ROMANCE novels!). Anyway it's a very cute story about not judging a book by it's cover and acceptance. And loving oneself which is ultimately what you should do. No matter what you think you look like, what you think about yourself you can't experience loving someone else completely until you can love yourself.

I loved the premise for this book, shy woman dresses up for a costume party in a costume that no one can recognize her in, she has a very HOT interaction with a man she's always had a crush on and then makes a run for it before he can find out it is her. In their real lives they end up working on a project together and start to have feeling for each other but Tyler doesn't know that Carlie is also his mystery woman who he can't stop thinking about!

I loved their interactions, their flirting, their are we just friends one minute and maybe more the next. Tyler tries to lure Carlie out of her shell and she makes him think about his actions. They are a perfect match, helping each other grow.

Towards the end of the book when all is revealed and they are hashing it out they sort of lost me, for awhile I had no idea what they were actually fighting about. But this is a romance novel and eventually all is sorted out.

When reading this book it was like my nose was glued to the book, I started it in the afternoon and finished that evening, and that almost never happens for me! I look forward to reading more of Lori Foster's books. ( )
