4.5 but rounding up
I really enjoyed this book. Yes there are issues and I wasn't completely satisfied with the ending but probably my favorite mystery I've read in a long time. I read Pretty Girls earlier this year and though I enjoyed that one, I enjoyed this one so much more. That's part of the reason why I bumped this one up to 4.5 stars. Again, I haven't read much mystery but I do think I am learning what I like in that genre. I don't think I'll ever be a heavy thriller reader, but I'm happy I'm finding more books I enjoy in that genre.

This will not be a super in depth review because I don't want to spoil the mystery. I liked the characters, though I was definitely more focused on the plot. The author did a good job making everyone a little morally grey without making me hate anyone. The plot was good. Very fast paced. This does center around women being sort of obsessive about a man in their life, which I think can sort of be a stereotype but the idea of the unhinged woman wasn't super present in this book, which I appreciated.

Mystery is one of those genre's where everyone has a different taste so though I really loved it, you may not. I would encourage people who are interested to pick it up but if it's not for you, then it's not for you.

It served it's purpose of being an easy "to read" audiobook running in the background while I did chores and whatnot. Overall it was boring, draggy and repetitive.

A woman hears of a university research project that will pay good money for participation. The woman joining the research project is our MC but we also have the psychologist running the project, narrating part of the story. I think it might be every other chapter. A scenario was played out and then it was repeated from the other's point of view. Miscommunications and secrets cause the tension/mystery. The shrink's obsession with morality was the "villain" of the story. People who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones...

I won't even tag it as thriller or mystery because they are only weakly represented. I like things darker or at least more thrilling and mysterious. I going to make a new shelf "tame". I don't recommend and wouldn't read anything else by either of them. ( )

I really liked this book. To me it wasn't that predictable, it wasn't realistic either but a very enjoyable thriller. About a makeup artist with a dark past-she was the reason her sister is disabled- joins a psych study to earn some money. The study quickly turns into her sharing all her darkest secrets and the psychologist leading the study blackmails the main character into finding out if her husband would ever cheat on her again. Some good plot twists. ( )

This started as an interesting concept: take someone's place at a psychological study since they weren't going to go and you need the money? I was immediately taken in once the study began, you could feel the ominous tone right away. What ensued was nothing that I'd expected and kept me on my toes the entire time. I can't wait to dive deeper into this author, they've got a head full of ideas for sure!! ( )

Completely enjoyable thriller with plenty of twists and turns!

I enjoyed [b:The Wife Between Us|34189556|The Wife Between Us|Greer Hendricks|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1496862122s/34189556.jpg|55227731] but I think this one was even better. I saw some twists coming but others took me completely by surprise. I love it when that happens!

I think my only complaint is that the use of first person POV and present tense was very distracting at times. It took me a while to get to the point where the narration flowed over me instead of making me stumble. But I'm very glad that I stuck with it.

Very fun read!

Big thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the ARC!! ( )
