The whole object of St. Louis de Montfort's book and this translation of his original work is to seek union with Jesus through Mary. This book is about the why and the how of being truly consecrated to Jesus through Mary, Mother of God and the necessity for doing so. It is a translation by Frederick William Faber from the original French version by St. Louis de Montfort (who died at the age of 43 in the year 1716). There are 14 short chapters over 130 pages, chapter 14 focusing on total consecration. In this chapter the total consecration is broken into 4 week-long units. Chapter 15 provides prayers and information on consecration to Jesus via Mary.

Considered by many to be the greatest single book of Marian spirituality ever written, True Devotion to Mary is St Louis de Montfort's classic statement on the spiritual way to Jesus Christ though the Blessed Virgin Mary. Beloved by countless souls, this book sums up the entire Christian life, showing a way of holiness that is short, easy, secure, and perfect—a way of life chosen by Our Lord Himself.
