I thought this book was very cute. I liked the explanations that Lulu gave when she didn't pick a certain job and I also liked the illustrations in the story. The mother in the story listed many jobs Lulu could consider doing. Some of the jobs were, washing elephants, being a doctor, being a teacher and many more. When Lulu is asked if she wants to be a teacher, she responds saying, "I don't want to be a teacher. Teachers have to wipe noses, tie shoelaces and fix stuck zippers". The explanations she gives are clear, understandable answers as to why she wouldn't want to have that job. The illustrations in the book help the reader understand what each job may consist of. For example when the mother is talking about being a nurse, Lulu is putting on bandaids which is something a nurse may do if you have a cut. The main message in the story is that there are many big jobs in the world but your idea of a big job may be different than someone else's idea of a big job. Lulu wants to be just like her mommy when she grows up, which is what she thinks is the biggest job in the world. ( )

In my opinion, this book was very cute for a young child. The illustrations in the book really helps the reader visualize the jobs Lulu’s mom tries to suggest to her and Lulu’s reactions to her mom’s ideas. For example, the mom suggests that Lulu could wash elephants, and in the illustration it shows Lulu getting all wet trying to wash an elephant and explains that’s why she does not want to do that job. This books conclusion was very cute and shows how important all jobs are. Lulu asks her mom what the biggest job of all is, and her mom replies, “The biggest job I know is taking care of you and your brother.” Then Lulu decides she wants to be a mommy. The big idea in this book was that any job is an important job, and although being a mommy isn’t a paid “job”, it is still extremely important and takes a lot of effort. ( )
