Well-written and compelling, but I found myself wishing the author would pursue mainstream psychological help. Her response when her husband is arrested is to make it all about her and how she feels. She flees to a retreat rather than talking to him about his issues, then clings to him and then a subsequent inappropriate boyfriend for years. At one point she gets involved with a therapy that involves constant vomiting, and she goes to a Tarot card reader for information on her ex's love life. She had crazy parents who were unhappily married and who dealt with it by doing EST and everything else. She follows that pattern and doesn't seem to have learned much by the end of the book. ( ) Megan Griswold was going about her daily routine, waiting for her husband to return from a business trip, when she receives a call. Her husband is in jail. This tipping point in her life starts her on a new road to therapy, self-help, and self-discovery. While Megan could already be considered an expert in the area of personal growth considering her familial upbringing of self-enlightenment and self-analysis, she finds herself adrift. This memoir follows Megan through different therapies and workshops she has attended since childhood and where they led her. The author has taken her life experiences and tragedies and written a funny and tragic memoir. Readers will see similarities in their own lives and might be inspired to pursue a therapy, workshop, or practice that they hope to build from. I found the short chapters convenient at times, but also frustratingly brief at other times. sem críticas | adicionar uma crítica

"Traces one woman's lifelong quest for love, connection, and peace of mind. A heartbreakingly vulnerable and tragically funny memoir in remedies, Megan Griswold's narrative spans four decades and six continents--from the glaciers of Patagonia and the psychotropics of Brazil to academia, the Ivy League, and the study of Eastern medicine"--Jacket.
