Some excellent stories; some wide of the mark. All all are interesting. ( )

Most of the short stories are light reading and moderately entertaining; but a few have some pretty "punchy" endings. The last few stories are more of the pensive Draco Tavern stories. ( )

This book of short stories features examples of all of Niven's disparate styles including some of his collaborations. Neat! ( )

Maybe it's just that Niven and I aren't sympatico. ?áBut, really, I'm not sure what any fan of these stories sees in them. ?áLong-winded, with little point. ?áImaginative world-building, which I love in novels, gets in the way in a short, imo. ?áIf this hadn't just landed in my hands I wouldn't have even bothered to check it out from the library, and I would have been better off. ?áImo. ?áThe only stories that didn't feel like a waste of time to me were Talisman and A Teardrop Falls." The last few stories are a sampling of the Draco Tavern series of stories, which have an interesting "Star Wars feel" to them. Other than that, the stories in this anthology didn't much impress me. ( )
