Title: Lost Christmas Memories
Author: Dana Mentink
Pages: 220
Year: November 2018
Publisher: Love Inspired Suspense
My rating is 5 out of 5 stars.
Tracy Wilson is a bloodstock agent, which means that she evaluates horses for clients to ensure their physical health is sound and that the horse is a good investment. She arrives at her latest job and witnesses a murder. She runs out of the building, jumps in her car and takes off. Unfortunately, the killer chases after her. During the chase she injures her head and loses her memory of the murder temporarily. She slowly begins to remember snippets of what happened, but not who committed the crime. She does like spending time with Keegan Thorn, the cowboy who finds her after her accident and who stays by her side once she is in the crosshairs of a killer.
Keegan Thorn has a chip on his shoulder. His father is the town mayor. His father also fathered Keegan outside of marriage and has never wanted Keegan as his son. Keegan was adopted by a loving family after his mother died, but still can’t overcome his birth father’s rejection. He sees Tracy’s crashed vehicle and stops to investigate never imaging what he has stumbled upon. He comes to her aid and in doing so now is a target as well as the killer is stalking Tracy. Keegan is instantly drawn to Tracy but thinks he isn’t good enough for her. He can’t seem to stay away from her though. He will only help her until she is safe he tells himself. The killer, however, might have other ideas.
This was a story I couldn’t put down! The author did a great job of immediately drawing me into the story and keeping me entertained. Even though these stories are shorter than a full-length novel, this one had characters I connected with right away and a riveting story. I loved Tracy’s cantankerous, grouchy grandfather! Keegan has allowed his past to mess with his present and potentially his future, but he can’t see that yet. He has let his faith drift but sees Tracy’s faith in action. Great story!! ( )

I’m a little bit sad to say goodbye to the Thorn family. It’s been fun getting to know these four cowboys (and Dana Mentink’s books) through this series. I knew the youngest Thorn brother who has a penchant for trouble was going to fall hard and fast—and Lost Christmas Memories does not disappoint.

When Tracy Wilson witness a murder and flees for her life, Keegan Thorn finds her trying to hide in the woods. Then she loses pieces of her memory and can’t identify the killer or thoroughly explain what happened.

The chip on Keegan Thorn’s shoulder is deep. Despite being adopted into a loving home with three brothers and a mom and dad who love him, he has never forgotten that someone else didn’t want him. And that plays into how he views the people from his other (biological) family.

From the first pages, readers are taken on a wild ride through the California foothills with danger lurking everywhere. There are also some sweet moments which show the influence the Thorn family has truly had on Keegan over the years.

This series comes full circle as it started at Christmas and ends at Christmas with some big celebrations. Plus, the Love Inspired authors know how to write great Christmas reads (even when the main characters are fighting for their lives).

My Thoughts: In this book, we find the Thorn family preparing for the double wedding of Jack and Owen. The storyline centers around the fourth son Keegan. Keegan learns the value of a close family and learning how to let his heart truly love, as he lets go of past hurts.

Dana Mentink has written another gripping story of suspense, with a mix of romance. Readers will truly enjoy this novel. This book will is a great novel for the Christmas season.

A great novel of love and forgiveness.

The author really knows how to get your attention from the very beginning of the story. What would you do if you witnessed a murder? Tracy has come for business and stumbles upon a horrible scene. She is terrified but knows she must get away. Through a series of events, she loses her memory. I can say for sure if I was going to be rescued I wouldn't mind having the dashing Keegan by my side.. He is without question a true cowboy and doesn't mind helping a damsel in distress.

Tracy is scared when parts of her memory start to come back. I liked how the Thorn family took her in and showed her grace and compassion. Keegan says something to Tracy that really stuck with me. He said," Dunno why they decided to love me," as he talks about the Thorns. Tracy's response was, "Maybe because you let them." I know I have a difficult time allowing anyone into my life and I realized how little I have allowed people to love me. Such a great part of the story I didn't want to not mention it. It shows how Keegan has had a difficult time with relationships and perhaps like me, doesn't feel worthy to be loved.

I loved how much knowledge the author knows about horses. It is easy to visualize how regal they are with her descriptions. Keegan and Tom do not get along at all. Tom has some vendetta against him and it plays perfectly into the story. Does Tom know more about why Tracy is is danger? Is he holding information back on what Tracy witnessed? Tracy's upbringing is full of disappointments and rejections. I could see the parallel lives her and Keegan have. Both were not wanted when they were younger and it has become difficult to trust and forgive people.

There is heart stopping action as Tracy tries to dodge attempts on her life. Keegan must stay on his toes if he is going to keep Tracy alive. I loved the fast pace action and all the suspects on my list that kept growing. There is plenty of mystery as the story reaches an exciting ending. What a wonderful ending to an exciting series.

I received a copy of this book from Celebrate Lit. The review is my own opinion. ( )

I love this book of romantic suspense. Tracy and Keegan are great characters. It would be so hard to witness a murder and then forget most of what happened. I love Keegan’s family and Tracy’s grandfather. Love the twists and turns. I received a copy of this book from Celebratelit for a fair and honest opinion that I gave of my own free will. ( )
