The Painter Who Loved Chickens is a brightly illustrated book with colors of red, yellows, and oranges and tells a wonderful story. The painter is an amazing artist who spends most of his time painting things like penguins, poodles, and people. His paintings are always being bought, but he yearns to paint chickens. He makes enough to live, but he really wants to buy a farm and have chickens. He realizes he needs to paint something new because he needs money to live, and comes up with the idea of painting eggs. One day, a lady comes to the painter and wants to see what he has. She wasn't interested in the penguins, poodles or people. She asks him to show her what else he has, so he shows her the eggs and the chicken paintings. She buys them all, and writes him a check for a very large sum. It was enough to buy his farm finally. The lady displays his art at shows and always comes back to the farm for more art to display because people love his work.

The painter realized that he didn't have to give up his passion to do what he loved. People appreciated and loved his pictures of chickens and eggs because they were different than anything else they had seen. This theme the author is trying to get out is that you don't have to give up on your dreams. ( )
