I miss so much of that in my own life. The romance was exactly perfect, the amount I want in every single book. The overarching family theme brought plot and was lovely, and I enjoyed how the ultimate conflict brought so much suspense. It's been a while since I read a Dessen but this one definitely stands out. Self-discovery in the sense of learning about another side of the family she didn’t even know. Coming to terms with her mother and learning why she was the way she was. Learning that it was OK to let go of the past while learning about the past. Connecting with those who were an important part of her past and learning how she fits in with the side of the family. I would love to see if there was a future book about Emma and what happens with the rest of the family.
