While I found the constant sex scenes to be a bit repetitious, Leigh's characterization of Cabal, a Bengal Breed, was fascinating and captivating. On the other hand, Cabal's mate, Cassa, the hard nosed female reporter, seemed a bit too cliched for my taste. The story kept my interest by delving into the series story line and it's over arching plot while maintaining a good focus the immediate story between Cabal and Cassa. Leigh uses the science fiction elements to very good effect, neither overwhelming the story nor burying it. She infused the story with enough to make it interesting. Two things that stood out: Leigh's overuse of a small number of catch phrases ("He bit out the words" or "he was good, damned good") caused me to wince a number of times. I found these types of phrases distracting. A nit for sure, and something most readers may over look. The second was the repetitiousness of the sex scenes. At times I wasn't sure if this book could be classified as hard erotica or romance. While I appreciated Leigh's attempt to create a primitive, feral relationship between Cassa and Cabal, I believed she missed the mark. A lot of readers will skim over these sections meaning that a quarter of the book does not advance the story. The erotica could have been cut in half and the story would have survived just fine. I enjoy the drama of these books so much. Cabal's mate is up to her eyeballs in the current drama the Breeds are trying to contain. Another Breed keeping secrets from his mate though, and I don't know why but it annoys me so much. It was action packed, I liked seeing some of the other Breeds we've come to meet like Dog and Brim, and I was intrigued by the introduction to the primal phenomenon. sem críticas | adicionar uma crítica

HTML: Reporter Cassa Hawkins has always supported Breed rights??especially in light of a specimen like Cabal St. Laurents, the epitome of the male animal. But when the Breeds are incriminated in a series of violent murders, it's left to Cassa and Cabal to discover the truth before they become prey. Não foram encontradas descrições de bibliotecas. |

I would've put the book down within the first few chapters, but since I'd been looking forward to reading the next volume in the series---Jonas' story!---I didn't want to miss any important developments. I suppose a few of the plot points might be picked up in later books, but I'm not sure they were worth the struggle of reading this one. Especially since the revelation of Jonas' mate was a huge disappointment. ( )
