I ended up skimming through chunks of that and repetition, and missed nothing thereby. The last several chapters are much better, but overall it felt very much as if there was not enough plot for the required word count. However, I appreciated the seriousness of the emotional/ethical conflict. That was powerful. Their assumption of who is stalking Jason continues to feel premature and unfounded. At the end of the first book, the guy's done nothing criminal. He's just weird. Did I miss something? I'll never re-read this series, so I hope not. But I liked seeing Jason in his element. He really does love art; searching for it, talking about it and just looking at it. His passion really shows here that I hadn't really realized before. And I wasn't too bothered that the romance took a backseat... in a way. I hope the next book won't be the last, coz I'm enjoying the hell out of this series. 4.5 stars. Jason acts unethically in an investigation of art looted during WWII, as the grandfather Jason idolized is implicated. Then Jason is whiny when Sam is unforgiving. That they seem to end up together at the end is problematic. (
