Completely and utterly wonderful. I'll never forget his description of the poetry of Edmund Spenser (a personal favorite of mine).

Lewis wonderfully conveys his enthusiasm for the authors he discusses.
I do not always feel those authors deserve it, but I enjoy Lewis. ( )

I love this book for the splendid enthusiasm which Lewis shows for even very minor renaissance authors whom he has obviously read and enjoyed. Sometimes when I went on to read the authors he described, I did not find them as good as he did, but at least he inspired me to read them seriously. ( )
