( ) I like dark fantasy and this fits that bill perfectly . Two sisters are separated right after birth due to a decree by the ruler that all twins be killed and their mother stoned to death. Readers don't know why this decree exists until far into the story, but with plenty of action and intrigue in the interim, that revelation is done perfectly. One girl ends up as an uneasy member of the court, the other in a small village in the jungle. When her village is attacked and nobody heeds her warning it's about to happen, it sets her on a path that involves bloodshed, romance, a gradual discovery of her power and how she and her sister fit into the history/mythology of their world. It's done in a way that satisfies while leaving the reader eager for what will come in the second volume. sem críticas | adicionar uma crítica

The only remnants of the old god's existence lie in twins, separated at birth. Goddesses who grew up believing that they are human. Strong-willed Naala seeks adventure in her quiet and small village, while the more reserved Sinai resides in the cold and political palace of Nri. Though miles apart, both girls share the same blood, the same face, and possess the same unspoken magic, thought to have vanished with the lost gods. Their separation was necessary to ensure their survival from Eze Ochichiri, the man who rules the Kingdom of Nri. Both girls will be tested, their powers will be awakened. But can they defeat the man who brought the gods themselves to their knees? -- adapted from jacket Não foram encontradas descrições de bibliotecas. |
