I wanted to like this, but it just fell a little flat for me. I realize that shorter stories can have difficulty encompassing all of the back story and depth that a full fleshed novel can do, but it felt like there wasn’t even a hint of it here. JB goes on vacation and finds his ex-Doug living homeless. They reconnect, but there wasn’t any real emotion to make me feel like it was working for them. There also wasn’t a lot of detail for me to really delve into the characters to make me feel like I wanted to root for them. It seemed a bit clunky, unfortunately. ( )
