Proof of this fact is that THE LIONS OF FIFTH AVENUE was a Good Morning America book club pick. It is true, the story (or, more accurately, stories) is a good one. THE LIONS OF FIFTH AVENUE is two stories. One is about Laura Lyons, whose husband is the superintendent of the New York Public Library in 1913. The other is about her granddaughter, Sadie Donovan, a curator at the New York Public Library in 1993. In alternating chapters, we learn more about the circumstances of Laura and Sadie. Honestly, I was bored at first. Later, though, valuable books are stolen from the library in both Laura's and Sadie's stories. So there are mysteries to solve: who did it and how? Better yet, both stories are connected by one of the thefts. Although the writing style in THE LIONS OF FIFTH AVENUE did not grab me, the stories did.
