Hair, makeup, clothing, decor... everything in Bethany Castle's world is organized, planned, and styled to perfection. Which is why the homes she designs for her family's real estate business are the most coveted in town

The only thing not perfect?

She's on a dating hiatus and after helping her friends achieve their dreams, Bethany finally has time to focus on her own: flip a house, from framework to furnishings, all by herself. Except her older brother runs the company and refuses to take her seriously.

When a television producer gets wind of the Castle sibling rivalry, they’re invited on Flip Off, a competition to see who can do the best renovation.

Wes Daniels, the new guy in town. His Texas drawl and handsome face got under Bethany's skin on day one, but the last thing she needs is some cocky young cowboy in her way.

It's a labor of love, hate, and everything in between, and soon sparks are flying.

Thank you, Goodreads and William Moorow for a chance to read Tools of Engagement #3 Hot and Hammered series!

“Oh, hey. She never made that sound before. It was adorable and feminine and he’d let her watch him dust the hat off if she made that noise again, “Yes, it is. It's entirely different,” he managed finally. “And Jesus, look at you. Turned on by the idea of proper hat storage.”

“Listen, she said “I do the same thing with my Louboutin's.”

This is the first book in this series that I have read. Honestly, I think it’s the first I have read from Tessa Bailey. It says that it can be read as a stand-alone. But from what I have read is that all of the books in this series stars a new couple. But the character's do show up in the other books. This book was ok. It’s a has a nice touch with the comedy. It adds to the book to stay interested just to see what other smart remark will be said next to push someone's buttons. The book has a feel of the instant fall in love feel. Which I am not a huge fan of. But in the end, it was a well written book. Likeable characters and set at a good pace. Happy reading everyone!! ( )

Another good romance from Tessa Bailey. I enjoyed Fix Her Up, but this was equally engaging! I was surprised how well the cowboy Wes was drawn - he survived cliches. It was touching coming together to make a family. ( )

3.5 stars, probably the best of the three book series, almost didn't read it because I didn't love book 2, but glad I did. ( )

Tools of Engagement
Hot & Hammered, Book 3

I Picked Up This Book Because: Continue the series.

Media Type: Audiobook
Source: Scribd
Dates Read: 1/13/21 - 1/16/21
Stars: 4

The Characters:

Bethany Castle:
Wes :
Laura, The Castle family, Rosie, Dominic

The Story:

Ice princess meets hot new uncle/cowboy in town. Wes moves to town to take care of his niece after his sister’s relationship ends and she leaves to “find herself”. He meets Bethany through his new job with Castle Construction and immediately a love/hate relationship is born. Long story short, two people who both think they are not good at relationships start a relationship. It's a bit chaotic, and scary but so worth it.

The Random Thoughts:

Laura is pure comic relief and I love her.

Surprisingly I liked this a lot better than "Fix Her Up" despite its rave reviews. In my opinion, Bethany and Wes had so much better chemistry and the sexual tension, woo-wee! Our cowboy wasn't afraid to shoot his shot and it was refreshing to see a male lead pursuing the heroine for once. He was the perfect book boyfriend with his patience and sweet encouragements he gave Bethany during her struggle with her insecurities. I really liked seeing them together despite how fast their relationship moved later on in the novel and the appearances of the previous characters that were featured in past installments. Am I the only one who wants to read how Stephen and Kristen's stable but unstable relationship started? They're a riot! Nevertheless, this is a great addition to the "Hot & Hammered" series.
