He worked in Glover’s bookshop in Glastonbury which didn’t pay much but Ethan had inherited a cottage and some money from his grandmother. Bookshop owner Mark Glover considered him the village idiot, as he told new girl, Claire when she came to work in the shop. Claire was an American and Ethan was much too shy to speak to her, at least in human form. When they meet later in the forest in their true form he is much bolder. Wolfish, even.
Werewolf courting involves feeding your prospective mate so sheep are killed. Too many sheep. Ethan has lived in the town all his life and knows to keep his hunting to the bare minimum for years ago many sheep died and the townsfolk hunted down the monster responsible. Now the past is repeating itself! The mob reach for their pitchforks.
This was an entertaining love story with a good sense of place. A completely wrong sense of place to be sure. Glastonbury is turned into a sort of wild west town run by Boss Glover - Mark’s domineering father - with a posse/lynch mob easily gathered in the saloon/pub to do his bidding. Glastonbury is a bit weird but not like this. Even so, for the purposes of the story, one is happy to grant enough artistic licence to make it so. The Wolves of Glastonbury is a quick, entertaining read and I enjoyed it very much. Another fine book from Alban Lake Publishing but their eccentric distribution policy means you can only get it at their own bookstore. Here’s a link.
