A ruthless man is found dead, and three women have disappeared—his wife, his chef, and his maid. They are all suspects in the murder. His chief is married to a a police detective, who swears she is innocent.
As the story unfolds, each woman has a story to tell.
Lots of violence in this one. Not the greatest. ( )

Two stories are included in this book: the title story, “Three Women Disappear,” and a bonus novella, “Come and Get Us.”

Three women are on the run, wanted for the murder of a high-ranking mobster: Sarah, his personal chef, Anna, his wife, and Serena, his maid.

Mob accountant Anthony Costello has a long history of manipulating people. And, apparently, he’s been doing the same to the books he keeps for Uncle Vincent. When someone murders Anthony in his own home, the three people with strong motives for wanting him dead are all missing.

Detective Sean Walsh has a personal connection to the case and, therefore, a strong desire to solve it. But there are few leads to help track down the three missing women. And Sean has no idea where they might have gone. His boss [and former partner], Detective Heidi Haagen, is in charge of the investigation. But Chef Sarah is his wife and Sean is determined to find her, even though Heidi ordered him off the case. But even if he finds the women alive, can they be trusted?

Told from several points of view [Sarah, Sean, Anna, Serena], the unfolding narrative reveals the dark side of the dead accountant and the reasons each woman has for wanting the man dead. The constant switching of point of view feels rather clumsy and tends to confuse the narrative, but after the plot twists and turns a bit, the truth finally reveals itself [although astute readers may have already figured it out].

“Come and Get Us”
When a large SUV deliberately runs her off a desolate Arizona road, Miranda Cooper sets out to find help for her badly-injured husband. But, as she left Aaron and their four-year-old daughter, Sierra, her husband warned her to “be careful who you trust.” Why would he offer such a warning? Will the secret he’s keeping put her in greater danger than she already faces? Trekking through deserted, rocky terrain, Miranda must contend with the SUV driver who is now shooting at her.

Will she survive to bring help for Aaron? Or will the malevolent driver and his cohorts win?

Filled with action and suspense, this novella is rather predictable in its outcome. Here the bad guys are truly despicable and “guts and inner strength” keep the good guys going despite horrific occurrences and ghastly situations. Still, it’s a quick, enjoyable read.

“Come and Get Us,” originally issued in 2016 as part of the BookShots series, is likely to be a familiar, already-read story for many readers. ( )

Three Women Disappear 4 ⭐
A quick and fun mystery.

The story is told from multiple perspectives; Sarah (Chef and wife of Det. Sean), Anna ("accountant"/mobster's wife), Serena (maid) and detective Sean.
The accountant was found dead and it was partially a whodunit type of mystery. The format was a little strange at first as it started with interviews at a police station then after I get a hang of it I find this book entertaining.

Come and Get Us 2 ⭐
Almost DNF this one. Unbelievable plot.

Main story is 6hr 45min.
Bonus story is 3 hrs. ( )
