Lawrence is a former SEAL. When an injury takes him out of active service, protection details are right up his alley. The fact she's a Domme brings out desires and fantasies he's never pursued before but he's a SEAL, he can multi-task. This man is driven to protect and serve, and an ex has abused that nature in all the wrong ways.

Ros is used to being in charge and at first doesn't take the threats seriously enough, throwing her off her game, almost getting herself killed. But she's cool, calm focus when she has Lawrence under her command. The dynamics between her and Lawrence are spicy both in and outside of the bedroom.

I loved these two, they have so much dimension. They both have baggage they bring to the relationship and as they hit hot spots, sometimes they blow up in their face but they continually communicate and work through things. Some things take longer than others but I loved the give and take, and care. I was pulled into their world, I felt their pain and anguish and their joys. The heat between these two is scorching, hot, making you feel like your right in the moment with them.
There's so many layers here and tantalizing tidbits about other's lives it's going to be hard to wait for the next books in the series.

Just a heads up this is not BDSM 'lite' there are intense scenes that not all readers may be comfortable with, but I thought the author did an amazing job of showing us how much attention Ros took to ensure Lawrence's safety and care, while giving them both what they wanted and/or needed.

On a personal note: This book saved me this week, my Trigeminal Neuralgia kicked in pretty hard and the pain was off the charts and this book helped me get through some of the uglier moments of the week. Took me away to Ros and Lawrence's world and even though I couldn't read as fast through the pain, it helped me focus on something way better, than what I was enduring. Thank you Joey it meant the world to me. That's what I call magic. ( )
