The big idea of this story is problem solving. Lui wants to catch a star, so his friends give him suggestions to help him out. Furthermore, I liked this book for three reasons. The first reason I liked this story is because of the illustrations. Each page is filled with beautiful pictures that I think any child would love. The illustrations really help the reader understand the plot of the story. For example, Weddell and Gentoo discuss what Lui is doing, and the illustration connects to the author’s writing. The second reason why I enjoyed this book is because of the language. The type of language that the author uses is appropriate for second grade. The words that are used are simple, but some may be challenging for students. For instance, the names of the characters may be challenging for students to pronounce. The last reason why I liked this story is because of the plot. The plot in this story is quite simple. It is about a polar bear trying to catch a star, and his friends give him suggestions about how to get the star. This story could be a great to use in a lesson about problem solving, or fiction and nonfiction. The plot in this story is simple to understand, and the illustrations help bring it to life. ( )
