These deep and insightful poems about grief, trauma and feeling lost are so simple, yet say so much. The imagery and emotion she can capture in just a few sentences is amazing. I recommend finding this volume of poems, and reading it slowly, in a time and place where you can reflect and truly "listen" to her words. Incredible. I look forward to more from this insightful and solid writer. ( )Esta crítica foi escrita no âmbito dos Primeiros Críticos do LibraryThing. There is a lot of heart, heartbreak, healing, and exploration of deep emotions in this brief collection. It almost feels like an entire life rolled into these pages - a very intimate and unfiltered portrait. This is a collection that many might benefit from reading in chunks, a few poems at a time, and letting them resonate. It is also a collection that may improve upon rereading. Esta crítica foi escrita no âmbito dos Primeiros Críticos do LibraryThing. I enjoyed the layout of this collection of poems. Broken into 3 sections I felt like I walked through the process of the poet's grief and healing with them. Some of the poems spoke deeply to me but there were also some that I could not make sense of and wasn't sure what they added to the collection overall. I do plan to go back and reread. Esta crítica foi escrita no âmbito dos Primeiros Críticos do LibraryThing. Not being a huge poetry connoisseur, I requested this book to expand my horizons and get into some poetry. Okay, wow, I really loved the diversity in this small collection. As others mentioned, some were very uncomfortable, intense and even disturbing, but I think that was the point. Great art makes us feel, even if it isn't the happy, sunshine-y emotion we sometimes hope for. Somehow Zimet really captures both the hope and despair in both addiction and recovery ... recovery being HARD work and often times, a lot of struggle. There too, few find their way to addiction because life was easy, but mostly because it was very difficult. Zimet walks a fine line here and I did not walk away depressed, but more or less, curious, hopeful and with the knowledge that the only way to face life's hardships is head on; and poetry can be a way to do just that. Definitely a poet to watch. Esta crítica foi escrita no âmbito dos Primeiros Críticos do LibraryThing. The Lost Grip by Eva Zimet is a poetry book of poems with no specific form, except for the haikus. They are beautiful batches of words creating a clear vision with each poem. I'm not sure that I am seeing as the poet does with the words but I don't care. The poems gave me things to think about and I enjoyed the book.sem críticas | adicionar uma crítica
Tempo Caches of rubble are the obstacles so slowly, geologically formed, I took them as landmarks, orienting myself in accord. But they shift under my feet at a tempo I fail to notice. In The Lost Grip, poems are stepping stones mapping trauma to recovery, disarming convictions shaped by cultural sins of omission. At times with a painter's eye or a dancer's movement, Eva Zimet forms connection and reconnection. The Lost Grip offers respite and nurtures light on the way to healing.
