The StormMother is unleashed, and she is angry.

Tiamat, ancient goddess of chaos and creation has decided to clear the world of human infestationâ??but she needs help. Only her descendant Celia Fisher, a Siren, has the magical power to aid her.

Celia is more interested in becoming a Broadway star than in her archaic Siren heritage. But when two fellow contestants in a reality TV competition drown during a freak thunderstorm and a werewolf threatens herâ??a Hunter from the International Guild of Demon and Vampire Hunters steps in.

Determined to prevent old demons like the StormMother from wreaking havoc in today's world, the Guild sends Dylan McQuilleran to be Celia's bodyguard.

Best described as Monster Hunter does Strictly Come Dancing. Celandine 'Celia' is a part-blood siren who has a career as a Las Vegas torch singer along with her nieces. Her ancestress (an old goddess of chaos and the waters) is upset with the human race and is triggering superstorms. In one such storm, the venue Celia and her nieces are performing at is damaged and the nieces are killed. After time with her immediate family, Celia joins a reality TV show aiming to put unknowns into a Broadway musical; the singers have to learn to dance, and the dancers learn to sing. So we get the frenetic pace of the demands of the TV show against the backdrop of Celia's great-umpteen times grandmother trying to get Celia to join her in her mission to exterminate humanity. I found the book rather a gallop and sometimes the transitions didn't seem to make much sense. It's also the 3rd book in a series and the world building seemed to assume we'd read the other 2 (not the case for me). Unfortunately, I found the world building rather unconvincing, and I doubt I'll bother looking for the others. I'd classify this on the side of paranormal romance rather than urban fantasy. Light, an OK read, but I'd say don't bother unless you're into paranormal romance.

I enjoyed this book. It was well-written, and of course, Irene Radford is not new on the writing scene. I appreciate fantasy with mythological figures woven in, and liked reading about Tiamat as a formidable family member, and the main character, Celia, fighting against her nature as a siren, wanting to succeed as a singer without using her magic, and not wanting to lure men to their deaths with her voice. I can't say I'm inspired to read more of the series, but this was a fun book. ( )

A bit of a chore getting it to talk to Kindle and Calibre but I got there. The book held my interest, but coming in the middle of a series (this is Book 3) I wondered what I might have missed in the other two. For a moment, I wondered if there was a tie to The Cat Who series because of the similar name, McQuilleran and Jim Qwilleran, but I might be reading too much into it. I would like to read the other books in the series to get current on the story so far if they're as good as this one is. ( )

I enjoyed Confessions of a Siren Singer, and easy read which I thought was well paced. I enjoyed the mix of paranormal (gods, sirens, etc and secret organisations) with modern day events, ie a reality television show. This is the first book I have read in this series so I wonder if there was any background I had missed out on. I found the ending less complicated that I expected- they were dealing with a very powerful entity so was thinking the ‘finale’ would be longer with twists and turns. ( )
