Note: I received a digital review copy of this book from the publisher through NetGalley. ( ) This series is wonderful for children or those that want a brief overview of a specific animal. The book lists 10 things about penguins, some you might be aware of, some you might not. I knew about the tobogganing, and father's hatching eggs but I did not know about salty sneezes, the march for their babies, and that they gather in colonies so big their poo-stained ice can be seen from space. As in the other books in this series, each page features a beautiful drawing, filled with color and, of course, penguins, as well as text and labels on other animals, as well as plants. This book would be a hit in family, class, school and public libraries. Just the thing to peak an interest in animals and our world. I highly recommend this book and series. The publisher generously provided me with a copy of this book to read. The opinions are my own. Catherine Barr’s Ten Reasons to Love a... Penguin! is a beautiful book to teach kids all about penguins as endangered species. I had no idea there were so many species of them. Eighteen known! It gives 10 special facts about penguins, from the fact that they toboggan to move faster on land to the fact that the dad us the one who nurses the eggs. Each page has gorgeous artwork, with animals and land features being labelled to enhance the learning. Encourages kids to adopt a penguin for a birthday or perhaps Christmas. I think this a great idea! There's a link suggestion for a site that has live feed of penguins. Pretty cool! I read this with my cubs, and we all enjoyed it. They are also interested in adopting an endangered species. Not sure if one will be a penguin, but I'm thrilled they are interested in adopting. I look forward to helping them pick out their critters. And to learning why they chose as they did. A great addition to any home or classroom library! ***Many thanks to Netgalley and Francis Lincoln Children's Books for providing an egalley in exchange for a fair and honest review. Nice pictures and informative text, although penguin lovers won't learn much that is new. The classification of Penguins into 18 types differs from some other sources--no Macaroni penguin here, for instance. It seems to be divided into two other types. Sometimes the black text is hard to read on the dark blue background of a few pages. sem críticas | adicionar uma crítica
