This is a nice little cookbook. In all cookbooks I am mainly looking for vegetarian dishes, which usually means looking in the section for side dishes, so I was pleasantly surprised to see a section for vegetarian dishes. Recipes are relatively simple with generally easy to find ingredients. But where are the pictures of all the delicious food?? It's always disappointing when you have to visual everything yourself. Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for providing me with a copy of this book. ( )

What is the DASH Diet? The Acronym of DASH when spelled out explains it well:

This book has easily spotted boxes in four colors for the reader on the hunt for information:
Green: Questions
Blue: Facts
Red: Alerts and Warnings
Yellow: Quick Tips

In addition to the shout-outs there are additional tidbits about ingredients, credit for recipes from others, and easily found nutritional information. Ingredients are listed with easy-to-follow directions. I can see this book coming in handy for anyone who enjoys basic meals and also for those that would like to try a few new ethnic options, too.

The layout of the book:

* Breakfast
* appetizers & Snacks
* dips, condiments, marinades & sauces
* salads and dressings
* soups, stews and chilis
* beef & pork

* comprehensive index

What I liked:
* The sodium content in the recipes were all low
* Most of the ingredients would be fairly easy to find or find substitutes for where I live
* There was at least one recipe I would like to try – a beet slaw

What I would have liked to see:
* More photographs
* More vegetarian/vegan recipes
* Menu suggestions for a day or week
