Romance. Young Adult Fiction. Young Adult Literature. HTML:NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLING SERIES â?¢ What if America had a royal family? If you can't get enough of Harry and Meghan or Kate and William, meet American princesses Beatrice and Samantha. Crazy Rich Asians meets The Crown. Perfect for fans of Red, White, and Royal Blue and The Royal We!
Two princesses vying for the ultimate crown.
Two girls vying for the prince's heart.
This is the story of the American royals.
When America won the Revolutionary War, its people offered General George Washington a crown. Two and a half centuries later, the House of Washington still sits on the throne. Like most royal families, the Washingtons have an heir and a spare. A future monarch and a backup battery. Each child knows exactly what is expected of them. But these aren't just any royals. They're American.
As Princess Beatrice gets closer to becoming America's first queen regnant, the duty she has embraced her entire life suddenly feels stifling. Nobody cares about the spare except when she's breaking the rules, so Princess Samantha doesn't care much about anything, either . . . except the one boy who is distinctly off-limits to her. And then there's Samantha's twin, Prince Jefferson. If he'd been born a generation earlier, he would have stood first in line for the throne, but the new laws of succession make him third. Most of America adores their devastatingly handsome prince . . . but two very different girls are vying to capture his heart.
The duty. The intrigue. The Crown. New York Times bestselling author Katharine McGee imagines an alternate version of the modern world, one where the glittering age of monarchies has not yet fadedâ??and where love is still powerful enough to change the course of history.
"The lives of the American royal family will hook you in the very first pages and never let go. Relatable, believable, fantastical, aspirational, and completely addictive." â??Sara Shepard, #1 New York Times bestselling author of the Pretty Little Liars and Perfectionist

thank you Joanna for making me read this - it was the perfect drama-fueled and slightly ridiculous story I needed at the moment! ( )

I think this book was made for me in a lab - it even has critical romantic moments involving Wawa!! I mean, what more could I ask for? LOL

The story is alternate history when George Washington became King and now we have a bunch of young royals in complicated romantic entanglements heading off into their college years and struggling with the monarchy and the paparazzi.

(This really needs to be a Netflix show starring a bunch of beautiful people where I will struggle to figure out if I am in love with the King or the handsome young nobles.) ( )

This was soooo fun. Think Disney channel movie meets soap opera. The idea of a monarchy America creates playful fantasy opportunities. ( )

This book was incredibly interesting, the way that the author set up America to have a monarchy.
also the characters were all pretty relatable, and even though there were a lot of them, they were all different. ( )

* I got this book for review from the publisher for my honest thoughts*

I really did enjoy this read. I was super impressed with the world building and how Katharine crafted the world building of this book. I also really liked how this book followed three very different girls all involved in this royal world. I also really did enjoy the various romance that were developed through this novel. I really did like them all. I also loved the political drama that was was the focus of this novel. It was a super fast pace read, and one that def. threw me for twists. I really am excited to for book two and see what occurs next. This book was such a fun summer read! ( )
