Tried this one because the first in the series had me divided between things I loved and things that seriously irritated me. Reading another makes me think this series might be too dated with a few too many issues of that date for my taste. ( ) By 1983, when this book was published, Peters had written 17 works of fiction, and she was improving all the time. This is better than the previous book in the series, which is better than the one before that. I imagine Peters had three novels going all at once at any given time. I'm surprised that she wrote so many novels before her Peabody series, given her knowledge of Ancient Egypt, and their eventual success. When Vicky receives a red rose, a mysterious note, and a one-way ticket to Stockholm in the mail, she immediately knows that Sir John Smythe, international art and jewel thief, is behind it. Vicky heads off to Stockholm to give John a piece of her mind for their last encounter, where he absconded out of their Paris hotel room in the middle of the night, leaving her to deal with the hotel bill and the police officers pounding on the door. Vicky faces many mysteries in Stockholm. Where is John, and what is he trying to steal this time? Who is the short, bearded man following her around? And will she get to have any time to enjoy her vacation? sem críticas | adicionar uma crítica

So she takes the bait, eagerly following Smythe's lead in the hope of finding a lost treasure. But the trail begins at a priceless fifth century chalice which will place Vicky at the mercy of a gang of ruthless criminals who have their eyes on an even more valuable prize. And the hunt threatens to turn deadly on a remote island, where a captive Vicky Bliss must lead an excavation into the distant past--and where digging too deep for the truth could dig her own grave. .Não foram encontradas descrições de bibliotecas. |
