A long story from Diana Wynne Jones that reads like the opening chapters of a decent book. As it is, you get a taste for something and it cuts off abruptly when it gets interesting. ( )

Wonderful, short story, for young children, but not too simple. A quick, but enjoyable read. ( )

Beguiling, but insignificant. Even if I were 8 years old I wouldn't love it. And the ending is abrupt - do you suppose there were thoughts of a series or sequel? ( )

Like almost all books by Diana Wynne Jones that I've read, this one was an enjoyable read. It's a short book, meant for young children, but the story isn't too simple. I only wish DWJ could have developed it more and turned it into a longer, more fleshed out story. ( )
