Die Polizei taucht erst in der zweiten Hälfte des Buches auf. Und das will bei einem über 500 Seiten starken Schmöker doch etwas heissen. Das erste grössere Verbrechen ist bis dahin auch noch nicht geschehen. Ich glaube, dass Håkan Nesser seine Geschichten nur darum so etwas wie Krimigestalt gibt, damit die Leser seine in Geschichten verpackten Aphorismen und Gedanken überhaupt lesen. Und er wohl auch weiterhin etwas zu Futtern hat, um weitere solche Geschichten zu schreiben zu können. Mir soll es recht sein. Gebildeteren Lesern als mir mögen die im Buch vertretenen Gedanken zu handgestrickt/einfach sein. Mir kommen sie gerade recht. This book is a real slow burn. Roos is an engaging and curmudgeonly character who spends the first half of the book being introduced and developing his odd double life. The second half of the book suddenly becomes a murder investigation with the team of Barbarotti and Backmann, quirky detectives in pursuit of the truth. This half is also incredibly satisfying and the final act is given a little bit of uncertainty because that just seems right. (
