Preface to the Second Edition -- When I began working on this edition I was struck, much to my surprise, by how much the language of psychology had changed in just ten years. While most of the classic terms are still about and still used in much the same way, there has been a subtle but most detectable drift not just in the terminology but in the very phraseology of the language of our field.
