I enjoyed this book. The characters were interesting and engaging. The plot wasn't predictable. It was a pleasant read. ( )

The Funny Moon chronicles the life and possible death of a marriage. It's dying not because the couple don't love or care about each other anymore. There's no War of the Roses here. It's mostly because Wally has been avoiding everything wrong in his life by obsessively playing golf, and Claire is tired. Like many women, she is tired of most things--her husband, her work, being bullied into things by well-meaning but bossy friends and her life in general. Can these lost but well-meaning people find a way to reconstitute their lives and their marriage into something meaningful again? You'll have to read the book to find out!

I liked this book. I liked the story and the characters, who are well-drawn and while somewhat stereotypical also have a certain uniqueness that kept me intrigued to find out what would happen to them. This isn't great literature, but this book has a kindness, empathy and humor that make it a pleasurable read. ( )

I thoroughly enjoyed this laugh out loud light easy read about a wonderful lead character named Claire and her ability to communicate with animals! ( )

There was no plot. It was not something I enjoyed since I read murder mysteries for the most part.

This book provides an excellent look into a middle-aged marriage that is falling apart...not because of some big major issue (cheating, abuse, drug use, etc.), but simply because the two people involved have grown apart. I found it very realistic that, as time goes by, people could change and no longer be a great match for each other.

The two main characters, Claire and Wally, are detailed, deep characters who both felt very real. And both were likeable...good people the reader can root for. Neither was the "bad guy" in the marriage having problems.

I felt invested in both of them, and in their marriage. Highly enjoyable read! ( )
