The trouble with a theme like "the body" is it's so broad, anything really could fit within it. This made for a very haphazard issue. This wasn't helped by the long first article, "The Congo Dinosaur," a gonzo travel piece not part of the theme. Most of the other fourteen articles and stories were very brief. I enjoyed Jeanette Winterson's lyrical longing for her former lover's body, Anchee Min's accounting of part of her time working on a farm during the Chinese Cultural Revolution, and Victoria Tokareva's story about the death of an affair. ( )

Most of the other fourteen articles and stories were very brief. I enjoyed Jeanette Winterson's lyrical longing for her former lover's body, Anchee Min's accounting of part of her time working on a farm during the Chinese Cultural Revolution, and Victoria Tokareva's story about the death of an affair. (
