Eventually the past must give up its dead. When William Garrett's estranged father dies under mysterious circumstances-and makes a heinous accusation against him-Will must journey to a place that has haunted him since childhood, a place he vowed never to return: Ravenswood Hall. But memories of the past are the least of Will's troubles. Stories of murder and witchcraft hinder Will's efforts to settle the estate and clear his name, and at the heart of it all is a Spanish painter named Lenora Laveau. Now a fixture of the crumbling hall, she claims to have witnessed Will's father's leap from the widow's walk in the throes of lunacy. Rumors in town tell a darker tale, though-that she drove him to it. As Will falls under Lenora's spell and tragedy strikes those nearest to Ravenswood Hall, he becomes plagued by disembodied voices and visions of the dead. After encountering a spirit who bears an uncanny resemblance to Lenora, Will questions his sanity, believing that not even the talents of his beloved daughter Lottie, a spiritualist, can save him from following in his father's footsteps. But when Lottie attempts to communicate with the dead, Will must stave off the past-and Lenora's charms-or he'll risk losing his daughter and his mind.… (mais)

I received a copy of this book via LibraryThing and this is my honest opinion. The Ghost of Ravenswood Hall by H. B. Diaz is a spooky paranormal ghost story. William returns to his childhood home after finding out his father died under suspicious circumstances. William plans to handle the affairs of his father's estate and leave Ravenswood Hall forever. However, ghosts and secrets of the past still haunt this old estate and nothing is as it seems. There is also the question of a mysterious painter William's father hired before his death. Who is she really, and what secrets could she be hiding? This book is a ghost story that would be great to read on a cold, snowy, wintry night while cozied up by the fire. I enjoyed the undertones that reminded me of Poe, however, the story was a little slow-paced in the beginning for me. However, I did like the book and would read more by this author. This was my first time reading this author. If you like creepy ghost stories, this book is for you.

A mystery, a haunted house, revenge, this book has all this and more. Told as a series of diary entries and letters from the main character's point of view, the story has its twists and turns, and very spooky moments. If haunted houses, a Poe-esque atmosphere, and mysteries are your thing, then this book is for you.

This is a wonderful gothic, paranormal story in the great tradition of the best epistolary novels of the 19th century. Ravenswood Hall is haunted, (or the hallucinations of one man, set to inherit the Hall.)
In the grip of mysterious murders. Ghosts, real and not real, the reader is pulled into the lies, loves, unexplained phenomenon of the Hall. The author does such a wonderful job of creating suspense and consternation, that the pages fly by. Highly recommended. ( )

Yes this book creates suspend but for me the plot was not that surprising and no twists. Be great for people that havent read many of these gothic type horror mysteries. Author has a good style ( )

Great gothic novel but it seemed as if every time I turned the page someone else had died. Very suspenseful with lots of plot twists and a somewhat unexpected ending.
