"Wagner continues to make this annual anthology a valuable acquisition for collections trying to keep up with short horror fiction. Although their literary quality is not as outstanding as that of the contents of Datlow and Windling's Year's Best Fantasy and Horror , the 30-odd pieces are all at least ingenious and some quite effective. Wagner's tastes this year have led to a high percentage of British authors (combining literacy and the influence of Clive Barker), short-shorts, and Americans using southern backgrounds.
