I'm going to have to agree with Duncan Lowie's review from Strange Horizons on this one: "DisLOCATIONS is firmly in the middle ground of current British SF. It could be accused of being a little unadventurous, but that's is almost a way of saying that none of the stories are failures. This is a satisfying collection of well written, fully imagined stories."

Andrew Hook's "The Glass Football" is the story that stands out for me - probably a reflection of the fact that I don't normally read that much slipstream, and thus find it a nice change. Amanda Hemingway's "The Convention" and Pat Cadigan's "Among Strangers" provide some light comic relief.

I have to admit I am not too fond of either of the two stories which are nominated for this year's BSFA Awards (Chaz Brenchley's "Terminal" and Ken MacLeod's "Lighting Out"). ( )
