I love a good hired man book. The hero here is a flawed man also a fav of mine. I liked how he turned his life around and straightened himself out and tried to make amends. The story is well written and the characterization is good. I didn't enjoy that the heroine flirted with alcoholism but that's just a quirk of mine. I did think that that element was let go without a true resolution. ( )

The pace of this book was so slow but I trudged along skimming a bit because the plot was pretty good and I liked the ending. Widow Dulcie & her daughter return to home town and more problems. Rye offers to work her farm but has secrets of his own.
