An amusing book about three vampire children who've traded off immortality somehow (details were not included in the story) to live in the new world (i.e. the US). Plot, characters &c all seem congruent for 8-10 year olds, which is the group for whom I purchased the book (though there is no reason to prevent my six year old from reading it if he is so inclined).
The author of the Witch Twins series leans toward Addams Family–style comedy in this tale of three vampire siblings trying, with mixed success, to make a go of it in New York. The bats in their ancestry being fruit bats rather than the more usual kind, the Livingstones are supposedly vegetarian.... Giving each of the three distinct traits and sets of supernatural abilities, Griffin switches point of view from chapter to chapter, trots the plot to a climax..., then closes with a hilariously macabre housewarming party and, along with other backmatter, a (relevant) cookie recipe. Fans of Angela Sommer-Bodenburg’s Little Vampire tales will happily sink their teeth into this one. (Fantasy. 10-12) Griffin’s (Witch Twins) goes in for ghoulish humor with this tale of three siblings who are “fruit-bat vampire hybrids” living in Manhattan and posing as ordinary children. ... But Maddy, the middle child whose predatory instincts are undiluted despite her impure bloodlines, correctly suspects that their mysterious new neighbors are purebred vampires from the Old World. ... This one will win (or lose) its audience on the sheer brazenness of the plot. Ages 9-up. (Aug.) Pertence a SérieVampire Island (1)
Siblings Maddy, Lexie, and Hudson Livingstone, who are vampire-fruit bat hybrids, struggle to adjust to living as humans in New York City while maintaining their individual vampire strengths. Não foram encontradas descrições de bibliotecas. |

I love Maddy. She just does whatever she wants. This time she is spying on the neighbors. She's funny as she goes about her spy work. She also gets in a lot of trouble. Good thing she has some of her vampire traits yet. I also like Hudson, her brother. He takes preserving the environment seriously, much to the disdain of his classmates.
I look forward to more of this family. ( )
