Das von den Autoren lauthals gepriesene "Managen der Emotionen" erweist sich bei näherer Betrachtung als trendiges Deckmäntelchen für Kontrollsucht, Dirigismus und Manipulation, und der geschäftige Schnellschuss aus dem Hause Gallup als echter Rohrkrepierer.
Plattitüden ohne Ende: Erfolgreiche Manager, so schreiben die Autoren, richten ihre volle Aufmerksamkeit auf die emotionale Seite ihres Geschäfts und werden zu "Gefühlstechnikern, die Reaktionen anstoßen und dann zusehen, wie sie ihre Wirkung entfalten". Der Manager als Oberingenieur, der die komplexe und nicht selten verwirrende Welt der Gefühle souverän in den Griff bekommt und steuern kann! Pures Wunschdenken, mehr nicht.
