The Lost Sailor turned out to be a better book than what I thought for the historical theme. The author used many words that sailors used during this time(1800's). A few of the words I actually did not know. When the captain was stranded on the island, he did not have items that we have today to use for survival. As a teacher, I can look up the older words with my students and learn about them and compare them to whatever device we have today in place of it. Another thing, is the illustration, observing this book it is obvious that it is set in a much earlier time frame. Overall, it is a great read and it teaches children to stick to whatever his/her dream is. ( ) There once was a sailor who was known all over the world for his skills on the sea and unbelievable luck. One day, there is a huge storm and the ship is destroyed. The sailor finds an island and, after searching, is able to build himself a house. He lives on the island for years, waiting to be rescued and one day a fire destroys everything the sailor has left. When he wakes up the next morning, the sailor sees a man rowing a wooden dinghy. The sailor is rescued and the man says it is a good thing the man lit the fire or he would have never seen the island. The lesson that can be learned from this story is that sometimes a bad thing can actually turn out to be a good thing. sem críticas | adicionar uma crítica
