The mice help the tree and learn to appreciate it's beauty and existence. Lionni's illustrations in this story is a little different than his others. The characters looked like cute little cutouts.Similarly, though, he used a lot of beautiful colors. Some of the background images looked like they were created with crayons. Very childlike, comparable to most of his works. Also, like his other stories he uses a lot of conversation between characters. He always throws in some good knowledge about things that are in the book. For instance, "Manure!" said Winnie triumphantly. "Disgusting," said Willie. But Woody laughed. "Fertilizer is just what I need." He throws in some information about what trees need. ( ) A Busy Year is a very encouraging book. We have two twin brother's who have each other and their imagination. They begin to take care of a tree who they named Woody. This book really has a lot of imagination not only in the book but now outside of the book because the children that read this will assume that the tree is their friend and is now a character. I liked this book for two reasons. First, the format of the book was different than most books. It was not in a typical square format but instead, it was tall and skinny. I think this would appeal to students as it gives off a unique feel. Second, I enjoyed the illustrations because of the texture and color. For example, the illustrator used a variety of different utensils – some were seen as collages as some were colored pencils and those all give off different vibes and brings life to the picture, in my opinion. The colors used were vibrant like how blue/green would portray the mice to be cool while red/orange showed how hot it must be. Sometimes the entire background would be blue while other times it would be all white. I personally think small details to illustrations provide a huge impact in stories and it also captures readers’ attention firsthand. It is a cute and warm story tells us about two little mouses and a tree. Two mouses meet a tree' Woody' in winter, the first day of Jan. and they found that the tree can speak. Then they becomes good friends and two little mouses always help the tree with anything and the tree is kind to them, too. Author use different phenomenon of the tree to mention the change of the months. It is a smart method to show the difference of a tree (plant) by the different months. Also, it is teaching us about months setting. It's a fantasy fiction book because all the animals are able to talk. Two mouses can talk to a tree and become friends just like human beings. Folktales: Stories from the oral tradition had their beginnings around hearthside and campfire. These tales were almost always fantastic in nature, involving magic or talking animals. To teacher, it is a funny book to teach students about months changed and they can use the different voice to represent three characters. To children, it is an interest book which they can learn how to recognize the months by the story telling, and they can learn how to help friends as well. sem críticas | adicionar uma crítica
