Lots of Jessica Jones history in this one, including her origin story done in a different artistic style than the rest of the series. I thought it was a neat way to depict a more innocent time in her life—not perfect, but still a reflection of how young she was when things got so horrible for her. There’s also scoop on her time with Kilgrave, her friendship with Carol Danvers, and her beginnings with Luke (poor Ant Man). A nice volume to wrap things up with the Alias series. ( )

And finally, the storyline I've been waiting for. Kilgrave, The Purple Man. The inspiration for the Netflix series.

Again, as usual, I'm blown away with what Bendis and Gaydos do, running with the powers of, at best, a C-list villain, and taking them to their logical extreme.

It's chilling.

In some ways, the Netflix series was better, because we got to see Jessica struggle a lot more with her feelings about Kilgrave, but in some ways this GN is better, because, in the span of a few delicious pages, the artist and author paint a much more horrific and twisted glimpse into Kilgrave's twisted psyche.

I'm sad this series ends here. But I'm also glad that these guys know when they've hit a creative peak and know enough to pull the plug before it degrades.

Well done, lads. I truly enjoyed every page of these four collections. ( )

Really love the art style. Pretty sure I like the writing style less over time. Kinda read the fourth collection out of obligation to the other three, and ended up feeling I was reading not about characters but about someone's talking about their ideas of 'em. ( )
