This one may have an expected resolution, but I enjoyed it, all the same. The setting, this time, is a castle in Scotland. ( ) What a lovely book this is, mixing delight and tragedy, gentle humour and deeply moving moments. The main protagonist, who tells the story, is a bit naive but it doesn't matter at all. Rosamunde Pilcher's main gift is in her characterisation. The people feel so real, that even unlikely situations become believable. Even reading for the third or fourth time, I felt caught up in the situations and emotions of those concerned. Inevitably it's a bit dated with a great deal of drinking and smoking, and attitudes to class even from the nicest of people that seem rather snobby. But those are the only slight jars in a wonderful, thoughtful novel. Read during Winter 2004/2005 I know you do incredibly stupid things when you believe you are in a love with an anti-social vampire full bent getting what they most want from you but Victoria really goes whole hog. Oliver Dobbs reappears in her life after 3 years abscence with an abducted son in tow and they merrily head off to happy hols in Scotland. An ancient manor in the glens, rich banker, and nearly deadly house fire later, all ends happily. sem críticas | adicionar uma crítica

Victoria Bradshaw fell in love with London playwright Oliver Dobbs when she was just eighteen. But he left her and disappeared from her life. Now, years later, he is a widower standing on her doorstep with his two-year-old son in his arms. And Victoria is foolish enough to want to take him back. Their early spring journey to a castle in Scotland becomes an odyssey of emotional discovery . . . can they rekindle their love in the tranquil beauty of the countryside, or will Oliver's career dictate another course?
