To start with the positive, this book has amazing illustrations. They are all very detailed, colorful, and large. The pictures fill up both the left and right sides of the book, and fully support the text. Due to the fact that it is a fun, light read, the pictures are equally as fun, so they are entertaining to look at. The one thing I wasn’t fond of, was the main concept behind the book. In this story, Millie is a cow on a farm that loves to scare the mailman, usually chasing him all the way down and out the driveway. Millie finds great amusement in horribly scaring the kind mailman. Even though this is certainly a fiction book, I don’t see any logic in the story. I don’t know why it makes any sense that a nice cow (she is portrayed as a nice, friendly cow) would find humor and great joy in scaring an innocent mailman off of the property. Children would probably find this funny, but I just couldn’t get myself to appreciate it. In the end, she scares him so bad that he ends up crashing and ruining the bike that he uses for transportation, so he no longer can deliver the mail. As a result, Millie is the new mail carrier and she loves it! Consequently, I don’t think this sends a good message to the readers, because in essence, Millie was rewarded for doing something that she should not have been doing. Other than that, there was no main idea, or message of the story (another thing I didn't like). I was not a huge fan of this book. I thought the story did not go anywhere and lacked a central message. The book was not very funny and confused me at one part that I had to go back and re read it a couple of times. I did not like that the book represented a cow as a fast moving animal on farm. I think that the author could have chosen a better animal to fit the part. I also found the illustrations to be inconsistent and distracting. The book was not very descriptive or funny it was very straightforward. If I were to choose a main idea for this book it would have to about manners and conduct. This was a really funny book. I'd love to read it with a group of kids. The cow wants to scare the mail carrier and does so on a daily basis. The illustrations are hilarious. Millie and the chickens that populate every page are all very funny. If you look closely, one of the pages even has a miniature elephant. sem críticas | adicionar uma crítica
