This is sort of like the bookish version of Jumanji. Miss Smith makes stories come to life when she reads aloud - pirates, dragons, princesses, and other storybook characters flood the classroom each time she opens a book. When Miss Smith is out, the principal and the students unintentionally release dozens of storybook characters, causing chaos. When Miss Smith returns, she must read each story in full in order to return each character to its own story. A fun tale. I think students would have fun making predictions and identifying recognizable storybook characters within the story. ( )
