This is a pop culture attempt at explaining dreams, both the biological and psychological aspects. It's heavily illustrated throughout with charmingly cute pictures. There is focus on understanding the meaning of dreams and of actively trying to manipulate them. Information is provided in short, easily digested snippets per page. It would be easy to put down for a bit to absorb the information and pick back up later without losing a beat. There's nothing too heavy-handed or so technical that it would fly over the head of the common reader. It's a fun and informative, but uncomplicated look at the dream world and the way the brain works. ( ) sem críticas | adicionar uma crítica

According to the ancients, dreams are the way that gods and devils communicate with mortals. Freud called dreams the mirrors of unconscious desires, and modern experts tend to regard them as reflections of repressed fears. We spend about a third of our lives asleep, and most of that time, we're dreaming. Why do we dream, and what do our dreams mean? This guided tour of the collective unconscious explains scientific theories concerning dreams, including physiological as well as psychological factors. Embellished with witty illustrations and thought-provoking sidebars, the eye-opening narrative explores the relationship between dreams and creativity in art and science, the interpretation of dreams, and other fascinating aspects of our dream lives.
