An entertaining and funny book, Punk Farm tells the story of Farmer Joes animals and their musical abilities. This book is light hearted and guaranteed to make students laugh. This would be a fun realoud and could be used to have students predict what they think will happen next. ( )

So - much - fun! Very interested to see how they make this into a feature film but the premise is so off-the-wall and hilarious it should work out just fine. ( )

When Farmer Joe goes to sleep, the barn animals get ready to rock! It's a rousing rendition of "Old MacDonald Had A Farm," with Cow, Pig, Goat, Sheep, and Chicken on various instruments. In the morning, Farmer Joe returns to the barn to find the animals asleep.

In my opinion this a fun book to read, but should only be used as a very small part for the lesson plan. The language isn't very descriptive, but the pictures really show what the author is saying. There is a picture of animals in line and the line reads "The animals are waiting in line to get their tickets." The writing is organized they have a sequence where the farmer goes to bed. Then they introduce each farm animal one at a time. "Cow sets up her drums, Pig plugs in his amps, Chicken sets up her keyboard" and so on. The characters are funny. They are farm animals who are rock stars. The point of view is third person. The illustrations are fun and loud like the plot of the story. The message is to show a new fun way to learn and use music. ( )
