Roxie and her friend Ursula have made a casual bet involving Lee, a handsome boy at school. His dark eyes give him a mysterious quality and he had just broken up with his girlfriend Shawna and was now single. Ursula seemed to be winning the bet and getting Lee to take her out until Roxie decides to play deviously and sneak into Lee’s house. She witnesses a terrible murder and now thinks Lee is a killer. This fast-paced story has Roxie running from Lee at every turn and captures the attention of the reader. Each chapter ends with a suspenseful thrust that compels the reader to go on to the next one and keeps the book moving quickly. I would recommend this book to reluctant students who like suspenseful stories. ( )
